Thousands of Indiana haunted house fans have been making their way to 835 Spring Street in Jeffersonvile for two decades. The site was home to Industrial Terrorplex (formerly Industrial Nightmare).
The advertisement used to read ‘The Mother of All Haunted Houses’ and Industrial Terrorplex consistently lived up to its claims. This place was big, bad and scary as hell. The attraction made full use of the expansive former factory building to deliver amazing scenes. Haunted house lovers experienced euphoric sensory overload when visiting this mecca of the macabre.
The haunted house featured state of the art sound, Hollywood quality special effects and scenery and over the top acting. The lineup would change from slasher movie characters to nuclear fallout to toxic waste dumps over the twenty year span. The scares, however, stayed the same.
Haunted house aficionados are quick to point out that the human element is the key to a great show. Industrial always combined a great mixture of animatronics and aggressive actors to deliver a terrifying one two punch. From 2005 to 2013, the owners of Industrial Terrorplex were also the owners of Haunted Hotel in Louisville, Kentucky, a lower tech, actor driven old school haunted house. Naturally, the owners began to include more mechanical scares at Hotel and Terrorplex implemented more skilled acting.
In 2011, Industrial Terrorplex and Fear Fair, a Seymour Indiana attraction, were the Friday night bus tour for the national haunted attraction industry convention known as Hauntcon. Hauntcon is an annual gathering of haunted attraction owners and enthusiasts.
On Halloween night in 2015, Industrial closed its creepy doors forever. Urban renovation in Jeffersonville had forced the attraction out in favor of senior living units. At the present time, the owners are seeking a new location to create another amazing haunted house.
